Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has expressed deep concern and anger over the rape and strangulation of two female students four days after their disappearance in Sadakpur village of Sadar Upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

Thursday (August 29) President of Women’s Council Dr. Mahila Parishad called for this in a statement signed by Fawzia Muslim.

They demanded the identification of those involved in the incident and quick arrest and legal action. At the same time, it demanded urgent steps to be taken to ensure the overall safety of women and girls.

Along with that, it has called for building a coordinated social movement by connecting individuals, families and society to prevent violence against women and girls.

According to the statement, two female students were raped and strangulated to death four days after their disappearance in Sadekpur village of Sadar Upazila of Brahmanbaria district. The two deceased students were students of Payag Maina Begum Islamia Hafizia Mahila Madrasa in South Union.

On Friday, August 23, the two female students who were killed went to the madrasa. On August 24, the family of the deceased was informed by mobile phone from the madrasa that the two are not in the madrasa. When they could not be found, the family members wanted to see the madrasa camera footage, but the madrasah teachers did not allow them to see it. They managed to escape from there.

Last Tuesday, August 27, when the muezzin of Uttarpara Baitul Karim Mosque was going to give adhan, he saw two dead bodies lying on the ground by the side of the road in the light of the torch. On his call, people from the neighborhood came and recovered their bodies and took them to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. The doctor on duty said that the signs of suffocation were found after the rape of the two deceased students.

The statement also said that women and girls are being subjected to brutal violence in different parts of the country in recent times due to the unstable situation in the country. Violence turns into murder.
